Employment and pay for family caregivers

Terms of employment.

Pay is based on the basic care services provided by family caregivers and billed by us to the health insurers. The needs assessment accepted by the health insurers sets out the key details of the basic care to be provided. The gross hourly wage is CHF 36–42. In addition to the gross wage, we also pay Saturday and Sunday supplements. This amount includes all statutory social insurance contributions.

Under Art. 7 para. 2 let. c of the Health Insurance Benefits Ordinance (KLV), basic care measures are help and support for people in need of care with activities they cannot carry out themselves, such as: bandaging legs, putting on compression stockings, bedding and positioning, exercises and mobilisation, pressure ulcer prevention and measures to prevent or treat treatment-related skin damage, and help with oral and personal hygiene, dressing and undressing, and eating and drinking.
