What are the benefits of family caregiving?

Family caregiving has benefits for both sides. People in need of care generally prefer familiar surroundings to a hospital or nursing home. In addition, it can significantly reduce healthcare costs. And for family caregivers, the benefit is that they are not only valued for caring for their loved ones, but also paid for it.

How do family caregivers in Switzerland receive financial compensation?

Family caregivers in Switzerland can be employed by pflegehero and be paid by the hour for providing basic care to a close relative.

Who counts as a “family caregiver”?

Family caregivers are direct relatives and people close to the person in need of care (e.g. flatmates) who provide care.

What type of care is paid?

All basic care services are paid, such as help with eating and drinking, personal hygiene, positioning or, for example, dressing and undressing.

Do I meet the requirements?

If you are of legal age and care for a relative who needs regular care, there is a good chance that you can be paid for it, even if you have reached AHV (state pension) age. For a more detailed assessment, please sign up for an initial consultation.

How much pay am I entitled to?

For the basic care you provide, you are paid a gross hourly wage of CHF 36–42 (incl. Saturday and Sunday supplements). This is the best pay for family caregiving anywhere in Switzerland.
